2003 NCAA DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Illinois Men's Team (pictured right) was in total domination of this year's NCAA Division I Championships. In a tournament typically ruled by Georgia, Stanford, USC or UCLA, Coach Craig Tiley's men took the team, singles and doubles titles and ended with a perfect season

After leading his team to their title, Amer Delic became the first Illinois player to win the NCAA Division I singles championship. The number three seed is also the first Big Ten player to win the event since Michigan's Mike Leach in 1982.

The unseeded team of Brian Wilson and Rajeev Ram upset the top-seeded William & Richard Barker on the way to the final. In the last match they overcame the second-seeded Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo to finish the Illinois sweep.

The University of Florida Women (pictured left) captured their fourth NCAA Division I title when they upset top-seeded (and two-time defending champion) Stanford. It was junior Julie Rotondi who provided the tie-breaking win when she upset Lauren Barnikow.

Stanford freshman Amber Liu (pictured right) upset top-seeded Vilmarie Castellvi for her singles trophy. Amber became Stanford's eleveth singles champion. The last freshman to win the title was Laura Granville (also from Stanford) in 2000.

The University of California picked up its fourth doubles championship in six years when Christina Fusano and Raquel Kops-Jones overcame Kentucky's Sara Witten and Amy Trefethen. The duo did not drop a set during the entire tournament.
