At this year's Nasdaq-100 Open pro tournament in Florida, the 2002 Target Cup was held. The event featured some of the top junior players in the world. The United States' Rajeev Ram defeated top-seeded Luka Gregorc of Slovenia in the final, 6-1,6-2. The girls final was much closer with Maria Sharapova of Russia inching past Agentina's Gisela Dulko, 7-6(4),6-7(1),7-5. The winners received wild card entry into next year's Nasdaq-100 Open qualifying draw.

The players below have been selected onto the ITF/Tennis Europe 14 & Under Team. Thje first event for the team will be the Fila Cup in Paris, July 8-14. Hrvoje Zmajic of Croatia, Rimvidas Mugevicius of Lithuania and Edita Liachoviciute of Lithuania will be coaching the team.
Girls: Volha Gavartsova, Belarus; Corina Corduneanu, Romania; Iva Velkovska, Macedonia; Kateryna Polunina, Ukraine; Daiana Negreanu, Romania; Zorica Petrov, Yugoslavia; and Alisa Vaidere, Latvia.
Boys: Dmitriy Novikov, Belarus; Dejan Katic, Yugoslavia; Ivan Sergeyev, Ukraine; Martin Shishkov, Bulgaria; Paul Mihai Puscasu, Romania and Jaak Polma, Estonia.

Go Soeda of Japan picked up his first ITF title at the Malaysian International Junior Championships. The girls title went to Sui-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Tapei.

American Chris Kwon won the singles trophy at the 2002 Amata Cup. Top-seeded Silvana Bauer of the Netherlands took both girls titles, the doubles with partner Elise Tamaela.

14-and-under Challenger No. 3 Finals-Yakov Diskin defeated Zachary Pine, 6-4,7-5 and Rochelle Lambert defeated Haroula Foukara, 7-6(5),6-2
18-and-under Challenger No. 3 Finals-Ragini Acharya defeated Caroline Hammond, 6-4,7-6(4)
16-and-under Championship No. 2 Finals-Treat Huey defeated Michael Shabaz, 7-6(7),6-2
