The fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs captured the USTA/ITA Indoor Championships title with a 4-1 win over Vanderbilt. It was Anne Nguyen who clinched the victory today after she defeated Kate Burson in the singles. This is the third title for Georgia.
Wake Forest senior Janet Bergman -- pictured right -- received the U.S.T.A. Sportsmanship Award for the tournament. Janet was chosen by the coaches of the 16 participating schools for "displaying outstanding sportsmanship and exemplifying the spirit of college tennis during the course of the tournament." She was 2-1 at No. 2 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles during the tournament.
