Andrew Eklov of the University of Illinois and Texas A&M's Anna Lubinsky have been named the 2005 ITA Summer Circuit Players of the Year. Anna was the only player on the circuit who won three titles and Andrew won two and reached the semis of a third. * * *
Former UNLV men's coach Larry Easley passed away on September 12th. Coach Easley led his team to three conference titles and produced two individual NCAA champions. He was 57 years old and had been suffering from a long illness. * * *
Pepperdine men's coach Adam Steinberg will be inducted into the Ward Melville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Steinberg went to Penn State after attending the Long Island school. * * *
Coaching Changes: Former Husky All American Claire Carter was named Assistant women's coach for the University of Washington... David Vest has left his coaching duties at Morehead State to take over as the new women's assistant at the University of Kentucky... Stanford's men's coach John Whitlinger has brought in son J.J. as a Volunteer Assistant Coach. J.J. Whitlinger recently graduated from St. Mary's College after playing for the Gaels.
