Kentucky standout Jesse Witten captured his first pro title at the Great Barrier Reef Men's $10,000 Futures. The 21 year old had been a finalist at a Futures in Illinois just the week before giving him a record of nine out of ten matches won. At that tournament he lost to 2003 NCAA Champion Amer Delic. Jesse was an NCAA singles finalist as a freshman in 2001. * * *
The University of West Alabama has reinstated it's men's and women's tennis programs. The varsity teams will return in the fall of 2005. * * *
Recent Texas A&M graduate Jessica Roland won the first title of her pro career at the Car City Hyundai/USTA $10,000 Women's Tennis Classic. It was a doubles trophy for Jessica, who also made it to the finals of the singles event. She had been a wildcard entry into the tournament. * * *
Coaching Changes... Patrick Catullo has stepped down as the Head Women's Coach at Broward Community College. He has accepted a position at his Alma Mater, the University of Mary Washington... Peter Mandeau has left Harvard after nine seasons as the Associate Men's Coach. The three time winner of the ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year will be concentrating on his new sports events company. * * *
